The 6500/7500 models are equipped with an internal adapter card (see #2 in the picure above) that communicates with the TEHMA modules on each phone. The TEHMA's are installed at the base of each of your phones handset curly cord (see picture below). This provides transparent, high-quality music / message-on-hold capabilities to phones that aren't part of a phone system. All models come with two TEHMAs and additional adapters may be ordered "as needed" so you will be able to equip up to 4-lines and 50 phones with one OHP-6500 or 7500 unit. The brand new OHP-7500 adds a “CD-Loader” to the OHP-6500 platform making it the most flexible unit in the marketplace and therefore somewhat more expensive. The added cost places it in our number 2 position but if money is no factor then this is the best overall unit. If money IS A FACTOR then you would be better off buying the OHP-6500 and investing the savings into a customized production, which will give you more of a professional pressence to your on-hold audience. The 6500/7500 models are simple to install and we will walk you through the set-up process so you can avoid the installation charges from your local telco provider. There is also FREE technical support via an 800 number directly from the manufacturer.

The primary difference between the two models is that the 7500 comes with a built-in "CD-loader" for maximum convenience when changing programs via CD. The 6500 model loads MP3 files from a built-in USB port or via the "smart media card" slot, (Card NOT provided). The 7500 is basically the marriage of the 6500+5500 technologies for better expandability than the 5500 and more loading options than the 6500.

Both units come with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. This family of products have earned our "Best in Class" recommendation for "NON-Telephone System Solutions" for over four years so you can order with complete confidence.

Q: When would I select the OHP-6500, the 7500 or 5500 models?

A: The OHP-6500 represented a major advancement in music / message-on-hold hardware for small to medium businesses that DO NOT have a phone system with an MOH port. All three of the systems mentioned (6500/7500/5500) will work beautifully with 2 to 4-line telephones and can be expaned to handle up to four lines and 50 phones. Where the 6500 unit excels is in its capacity (both equipped and growth), INSTANT track selection, price performance and USB interface... so you can download your audio programs as soon as they are produced and e-mailed to you with the MOH MP3 attachment.

For example - in the preceeding generation equipment (the OHP-5500); To grow that Manufacturer Discontinued product beyond its equipped capacity of 8-minutes you had to purchase and install 8-minute memory chips, which list out at $59 each, until you reach the maximum capacity of 32-minutes (i.e another $177). With the 6500 you are already equipped with twice that much memory through the 64MBs of "on-board memory", when sampled at 128-kbps. Furthermore, you can expand it up to 9 hours of audio simply by using a 128MB smart media card and using a lower sampling rate. The added capacity allows you to have multiple programs residing on it SIMULTANEOUSLY and those programs are INSTANTLY AVAILABLE vs. having to locate and wait for the program to upload from a CD (as with the outdated OHP-5500). This is a forward-looking technology whose development was spurred on by the DP-100 (the predecessor of the ELE-2020) and both of those units ARE NOT solutions for non-system (non-KSU) phones.

The NEW OHP-7500 is basically the marriage of the 6500 and 5500. It has more capacity than the 5500 and the convenience of the CD-loader technology borrowed from the 5500. It also has more formats that it can load your music or production from. CD (pure audio or MP3), wma, SD card, etc. We still think the extra $100 is better spent on a custom production unless the end user is totally afraid of computers and prefers the convenience of a CD loading machine over having to take an e-mailed file off their computer and download it to the 6500 via the USB port, which can be a 15 minute process for a total novice.
